But the unique performance advantage of SUCCEED! AMINO comes from the amino acid content. In a long run such as an ultramarathon, 5 to 9% of the total energy needed comes from amino acids, especially those in the branched chain family. The reduced concentration of those in the blood gives rise to mental fatigue and loss of concentration after many hours of exercise.
If amino acids are not taken during the event, they are scavenged from the athlete's own muscle. SUCCEED! AMINO contains branched chain amino acids to provide energy and prevent muscle breakdown. It also contains other amino acids. All amino acids used are pure, L form, pharmaceutical grade.
The amino acids aid in the following:
How to Use it:
SUCCEED! AMINO is formulated to support exercise that lasts for more than two hours. For events of shorter duration, the extra cost is not justified and the less expensive SUCCEED! ULTRA is more cost effective
When running for a long time, it is necessary to have a steady supply of energy drink. That implies carrying a bottle so you can drink between aid stations or water stops. Use the scoop provided (2 tablespoons capacity) and a funnel to put the powder in the bottle, add half the water, cover, shake to mix and then add the rest of the water. On a long run, you could put the powder in small containers (such as a 62 ml Nalgene bottle) and empty one in your bottle at a water stop.
The amino acids do not dissolve immediately, so the mix may appear frothy for a few minutes. They dissolve faster in warm water than in cold.
The normal concentration is two tablespoons of powder to one cup of water. Many athletes use commercial drinks only half to avoid stomach upset from fructose. That is not necessary and undesirable with SUCCEED! AMINO. For maximum benefit, use it full strength!
How much to drink varies from person to person and with the temperature and humidity conditions. Drinking lots in hot weather is obvious, but you should also drink plenty when it is cold and dry. Do not start dry and wait until you are thirsty before you drink. By the time a sense of thirst develops, it's too late and you're on the way to dehydration.
As a rule of thumb, figure 1/3 to 1/2 cup of fluid per mile of running. A small bike bottle holds about 2.3 cups and a large holds about 3.2 cups. Measure yours by filling with water and emptying the water into a measuring cup.
Solutions of proteins can spoil. Mix only in clean containers and refrigerate unused portions. If you have small portions of the mix left after an event, drink it to help your recovery. Wash bottles thoroughly after use.
